Marathon of Olympic Success
Thank you to everyone who helped make this year’s Huddersfield Hilly Half Marathon such a great event!
Starting with the Hilly Marathon Runners, thank you for taking on what is a mammoth of a challenge! The effort that was shown today in everyone’s runs was fantastic, and really showed how determined our runners were to help raise funds for the hospice, whilst at the same time producing a wonderful community spirit amongst one and other.
Thank you to the corporate relay runners who showed tremendous team spirit as they willed each other on to go the extra mile for the charity. A great show of team camaraderie as every team was not only cheering on their runners, but also the runners of all the teams competing, really portraying the Purple Posse image.
Thank you to the people who came down and showed their support by cheering on all of our runners, motivating them to push themselves to their limits (and in some occasions beyond!)
Thank you to everyone who sponsored a runner or a team, helping to raise much appreciated finances for the hospice.
Thank you to the sponsors of the marathon for helping to stage the event.
Thank you to our double gold Paralympian Hannah Cockroft for coming down and starting the race, and staying to chat to the runners throughout the day.
And lastly, but by no means least, thank you to all of our wonderful volunteers who helped make the marathon the success it was. The help that you offered on the day was brilliant, and without you, the event could not have taken place. London 2012 used the phrase ‘Game-Makers’ to describe the Olympic Games volunteers, and we can’t think of a more fitting description for our volunteers as well.
A great day, raising funds for the hospice and the profile of the charity. All that’s left to say now is everyone have a good night’s sleep tonight, and get ready to do it all again in a year’s time for HHHM 2013!
