About Us

Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice supports children with life limiting conditions and their families in West Yorkshire. Our charity began more than 12 years ago as a result of the challenges faced by local mum whose son Russell needed full time care.

We now support more than 50 children and their families through our hospice at home service and at our new state of the art hospice, Russell House, in Huddersfield.

When a child has a life limiting condition they still need and want the same as every child- the chance to play, to communicate, to experience new things, to learn, to love and to laugh. We are here to do everything we can to make children happier and more fulfilled while they are with us, however long or short that may be. Despite the common perception, a children’s hospice is about enjoying life.

We give support to the whole family, we help parents have time to just be mum and dad again rather than full time carers, we give time and attention to siblings and we support families through bereavement counselling and general emotional support while they are caring for the child and often for years afterwards.

With over 700 children and families who could benefit from our care across Calderdale, Kirklees and Wakefield areas we are only at the start of our journey and we would like you to be part of that journey with us.

We need to raise £2.5 million each year to continue the support and care services that we provide to our children and families. Almost all of our funding comes from our community, to find out how you can help us to raise these vital funds please visit the Fundraising pages of our website.
