What is the volunteer role?
Purple Takeover Volunteer
Where will I be based?
We work across Calderdale, Kirklees and Wakefield. We will try to ask you to help with events close to where you live.
Who will show me what to do?
One of our Community Fundraisers.
What will I be doing?
Purple Takeover is a team of volunteers that will travel out with our Community Fundraiser helping to raise awareness and the profile of the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice across Calderdale, Kirklees and Wakefield. You will be part of a team in a local area speaking to local residents, shop owners and companies with the aim of “turning the area purple” using the hospice’s purple branding. You will have collection tubs, information leaflets and products that will help to raise the profile of the Hospice in areas where we are not yet well known.
How many hours will I work?
We will be having two Purple takeover dates per month, each will last for a morning or an afternoon.
Do I need any skills/experience?
You need to be comfortable approaching people in settings including their homes and businesses and be confident and energetic to motivate people about supporting the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice.
All our volunteers are encouraged to attend training and volunteer meetings whenever possible.
As a volunteer you will be a representative of The Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice. As such we expect you to be smart, polite and to give a positive message about the work of the charity.
If you are interested please e mail Wendy Bentley our Volunteer Coordinator wendy.bentley@forgetmenotchild.co.uk giving your name, contact details, date of birth and saying why you consider yourself to be suitable for this role.
