We have been awarded National Lottery Reaching Communities funding to help us better support bereaved families.
This funding, of £297,000 over three years, will enable us to enhance our family support service, including recruiting a new bereavement support practitioner and delivering more peer-to-peer support groups,
Callie Harrop, our family support team co-ordinator said: "This will make a huge difference to families experiencing grief, loss and trauma – ensuring that whatever they need, we can be right by their side. Our support groups for instance - like our walking group, grandparents group and bereaved mums group - bring bereaved families together for mutual support and friendship."
The National Lottery Reaching Communities Fund supports projects that work to make positive changes in their community – whether that is for people living in the same area, or people with similar interests or life experiences. In order to support communities to thrive, the fund aims to:
- build strong relationships in and across communities
- improve the places and spaces that matter to communities
- help more people to reach their potential, by supporting them at the earliest possible stage.
