Hospice update - Covid-19

The latest Covid lockdown has come as a huge blow to all of us. But not a huge shock. At Forget Me Not, we’ve been preparing for this possibility for some time. The lessons we learnt during 2020 have helped us adapt our care and family support services so that they are lockdown-proof, Covid-safe and mean families get the support they need at home or at the hospice. We have a good stock of PPE, excellent infection control measures in place, our care staff are regularly tested for Covid, as are all visitors to the hospice and vaccinations for our team are underway.

Of course, with all our shops having to close once more and normal fundraising activity still on hold, we continue to face a huge shortfall in the income we need. Again we are doing everything we can to minimise this loss, including furloughing some of our non-care staff. But, again, it means we’re relying on your help to see us through. However you can support us, it will make a difference.

While our shops are closed, you can still buy online at our eBay store and online shop. And please keep hold of your unwanted clothes, toys, homeware and bric-a-brac – we’ll need them more than ever once our doors are open again.

Look out for our calendar of virtual events and challenges to keep you entertained, active and fundraising, whether you’re a runner, walker, gamer, dancer or cyclist!

And please join us in celebrating the 10th anniversary of our hospice, Russell House, being built – we’ve got lots of exciting things planned and lots of ways you can get involved – you can find out more here.

Thank you for all your support. We wish you all the best over the next few weeks. Please stay safe.

Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice supports children with life-shortening conditions – plus their families.

We help hundreds of children, and their families, through our Hospice at Home service and at our fantastic purpose-built building - Russell House - in Huddersfield. Our services have been rated as 'outstanding' by the CQC.

Right across West Yorkshire we provide superb nursing care, hydrotherapy, creative therapy, days out, memory making, end of life care, bereavement support and counselling, and much more, all available to the whole family.

We do things differently. If you thought you knew what a hospice was, think again. Prepare to be amazed…

It takes a lot of people to make Forget Me Not possible - from those we care for and our own team to hundreds of volunteers, donors, fundraisers and business supporters.

you can make a difference!

Every year more children are diagnosed with life-shortening conditions and more families are living with loss. With only around 4% of our income coming from government sources, we need the support of the whole community to help us continue to be here for the local families who desperately need our help.
