“It’s made a big difference to my life, giving me a real sense of purpose. The shop team are so lovely and you really feel like part of something bigger. I volunteer 2 afternoons each week, and it’s great. I like being able to fit it in around my grandchildren, swimming and the WI. When I first started, I worked behind the till and helped with tidying up. But as I grew into the role, I was taught new skills and given more responsibilities. If anyone’s thinking about volunteering, I’d say ‘Do it!’ It’s made a real difference to my life. Giving a couple of hours won’t just benefit the charity; it offers huge benefits for you, too.”
