Happy Valley star opens our new shop!
Hundreds of Happy Valley fans and Forget Me Not supporters gathered to celebrate the opening of our 14th shop, which is also our second in Hebden Bridge. The grand opening was a fantastic start to what we hope will be a really successful venture, building on the popularity of the original (but tiny) Hebden shop, which itself has been turned into our first dedicated children’s store.
Before cutting the ribbon, Rhys (who just last month was announcing Beyoncé as International Artist of the Year at the Brit Awards), said “I’m absolutely honoured to be opening this shop. I know all the good work it (the hospice) does for this community.”
Rhys met with staff and volunteers before the opening, then stayed afterwards to meet and greet customers, take selfies with fans and answer many a question about the show that he is now so famously known for.
The day was a huge success – with many customers picking up a bargain and keeping the till ringing until closing time! “The money raised in our shops plays a huge part in helping us to support local children and families – so we’re very grateful for all of the support that the Hebden Bridge community has shown us – it’s only because of them we have been able to open this bigger second shop”, says Andrea, Trading Manager.
