Virtual Fundraising

We all understand the importance of social distancing. Of protecting ourselves, our loved ones and our community by helping reduce the spread of the coronavirus. But we are social creatures and staying apart is really, really hard. In fact, social isolation is bad for your mental health and wellbeing.

It’s also really bad for fundraising! We’ve had to cancel every event, every challenge, every bag pack and bucket shake. We can’t even get out and about selling raffle tickets. Everything we normally do to raise the funds we need to keep our hospice open is no longer available to us.

But we’re not giving up. We want to overcome the downsides of social distancing by finding ways to bring people together online – for fun, for friendship and for fundraising.

Already we’ve had over 200 people take part in our first ever online Sunday Night Quiz, raising a brilliant £500. And one Zumba instructor already raised over £100 in donations with her first ever virtual Zumba class. And we’ve got lots more planned – like virtual dance classes and challenges.

So let’s come together. Let’s join forces. Let’s make a difference. After all, we’re all in this together!

How can I help?

Our ask is really simple. If you are running a free online event – be it a dance class, history lesson, or networking event, could you do it in exchange for an optional donation to Forget Me Not? Or maybe you usually do charge for a class that you currently can’t run in person – maybe the first session could come to us? We’ll advertise all events that support us on our Facebook and our website, listing them below and adding them to our Events page.

If you, or anyone you know could help us in this way, or you’d like to run an event but aren’t sure where to start, just get in touch and our fundraisers would be happy to help!

What kind of virtual fundraising could I do?

There’s load of ways you could fundraise virtually for us. Here’s some of our ideas, but we’d love to hear yours!

Virtual dance class - From Ballroom to Zumba, set up a live stream a get people dancing in their living room!

Virtual quiz  - If you’ve ever fancied being a quiz master, why not run your own one online! There’re loads of platforms you could use or you could simply live stream one to your friends and family for a night of friendly competition!

Virtual workout - Keep your pilates, yoga or aerobics class going with live streaming!

Virtual classroom - With the kids at home, parents are looking to online tutors so that the kids can keep learning. So whether it’s PE, history or something completely different to the normal classroom, you could raise vital funds through your online classes!

Host a webinar - If you’re at home instead of the office, why not skill share through a webinar?

Music class - Guitar maestro? Whatever instrument you play, why not offer a music lesson online?

How do I raise money?

It’s easy! When asking for donation you could do it through our online donation page, through Facebook fundraising, or you could set up a JustGiving page. If you need any help you can email us here.
