Take your fundraising to new heights with the Big Charity Abseil!
Dates: Saturday 13th September 2025
Where: Cathedral Centre, 8-10 Westmorland St, Wakefield, WF1 1PJ
You’ll be abseiling down the iconic 164-foot cathedral tower with a fully trained and experienced team guiding you every step of the way. No prior experience is necessary – just courage and enthusiasm!

(please note the cost of this event to the Hospice is £65 per place)
This event is run by Carnegie Great Outdoors instructors who are fully qualified and highly experienced, ensuring that abseiling is very safe.
Join us in abseiling 164ft down Wakefield Cathedral!
Please note:
- There is no weight limit (the equipment used on the day can hold up to 3 tonnes) but you will need to fit into a harness.
- Anyone aged 13 or over can take part, as long as you have a parent or guardian with you on the day, to be present during the abseil and to sign consent forms.
- There is no maximum age limit, however you are required to be in a good state of health and be able to climb the 170 narrow medieval stone spiral tower stairs in order to reach the platform.
