Inspired by 11-year-old Madi, who’s raised over £13,000 in memory of her twin brother Ethan, we’re challenging schools to create your own Day of Fun to support Forget Me Not.
In 2023, Madi’s brother Ethan was diagnosed with a rare degenerative condition. Madi had to watch her twin go from a boy who could do everything she could, to someone who was wheelchair-bound, often in a lot of pain, unable to speak and with very limited movement.
Very sadly, Ethan died in 2025. Forget Me Not children’s hospice has supported the whole family since Ethan was diagnosed, and our sibling support worker continues to be here for Madi, helping her cope with her loss. Madi has fundraised for Forget Me Not throughout, winning Young Community Champion at the Calderdale Community Spirit Awards in 2023. And she’s not going to stop now!
Madi has run two Days of Fun, involving everyone at her and Ethan’s school, St Andrew’s Junior School in Brighouse. The days have included bake sales, raffles, a cardboard cart race and a masked singer competition! In total she has raised over £13,000!
Now, inspired by her incredible example, we’re challenging you to design your school’s very own fun-filled day of fundraising. What that looks like is up to you and your students. Madi’s only rule? It has to be fun!
