Family support services
Life continues to throw its challenges and hurdles at you, so we’re here to clear a path through it all.
Caring for a child with a life-shortening condition is challenging enough, but other aspects of life don’t simply stop so you can deal with it all. Having to juggle the many demands on your time, energy, headspace and emotions can seriously take its toll. That’s why we focus on supporting you, offering chances to talk, understand, relax, take a break... so you can cope better as a united family unit.
We’ve designed a wide range of family support services, including practical, medical and emotional support. You can choose as much or as little of it as you want – whatever works best for you. And it’s there for as long as you need it.
Hydrotherapy – Our Hydro Pool has warm, gently moving water with sensory lights; perfect for your child or for a family splash-about.
Music therapy – A great way to express yourselves through the power of music and rhythm, and for teenagers to spend time with friends, and even make new ones.
Counselling – Offering parents, carers, and brothers and sisters a confidential, safe space to talk and explore their feelings.
Sibling support – Helping brothers and sisters to understand, to deal with a sibling getting a lot of attention or with mum or dad’s occasional absences, plus of course how to cope with their feelings.
Bereavement support – A hugely flexible long-term service offering emotional support if you’re living with the loss of a child, which can include grandparents, friends and school.
Advice – Around the clock, our team is always happy to answer your questions, to guide you in managing your child’s symptoms, and to help everyone cope.
Practical support – Time is a luxury and organisational skills can suffer when you’re caring for a child. So we’ll help sort out anything from a birthday party to medical appointments or a huge pile of ironing.
