How you made our 10th anniversary a year to remember!

Here’s just some of the ways you’ve helped us celebrate our birthday and raise this incredible amount:

Perhaps you took on our 10k challenge where you set your own goal and did it your way! 

Or maybe you dared to walk over hot coals (or Lego bricks!) to show your support for local children and families at our firewalk. 

Perhaps you bought a ticket in our special 10th birthday Mega Raffle or made a donation to our website in response to a story we’ve shared.

Maybe you unleashed your inner dragon and took park in our Dragon Boat Race at Pugneys Country Park

Or did you join us at the John Smith’s Stadium in Huddersfield to remember the moment when we first received the keys to Russell House on that very spot 10 years ago?

Perhaps you helped turn Huddersfield purple with bucket collections and bag packs.

Or maybe you threw us a big 10th birthday bash, where you enjoyed party games with family, friends and neighbours and raised a glass to your favourite local children’s hospice!

Or maybe you dressed up to the nines and joined us at our 10th anniversary ball in Leeds.

Or perhaps your business donated volunteers, supplies, equipment or resources to help us refurbish and redecorate Russell House so that it’s fit for purpose for the next 10 years. Or gave us a state-of-the-art cinema so our families can enjoy the magic of the movies! All-in-all, businesses and organisations from across West Yorkshire donated around £100,000 worth of gifts-in-kind to us this year (not included in the £650k total above)!

No matter how you’ve supported us, your contribution is making a real difference to local children and families. It’s helping us provide expert clinical care to children with complex health conditions so they’re able to live the best lives they can. It’s helping us take a little bit of weight from the shoulders of exhausted parents and helping them feel a little less alone. It’s helping us be here to support bereaved families devastated by their loss. 

We’re incredibly proud to have been here for 10 years, supporting families whose lives have been turned upside-down by some of the most challenging circumstances any of us could ever imagine. 

And you should feel really proud too.
