Bluey, Stitch and Darth Vader to join Russell Bear for opening of our new shop in Huddersfield town centre!

When: Saturday 9th August 11am

Where: Unit 1, 49-57 New Street, HD1 2BQ

On Saturday 9th August 2025 cuddly characters Bluey and Stitch will join Darth Vader and our very own mascot Russell Bear for the opening of our new Huddersfield town centre charity shop on New Street. The first 20 customers will receive goody bags and there will be refreshments and a prize wheel open to all.

The New Street shop, our 15th, will offer a wide selection of high-quality, pre-loved items including clothing, books, toys, homeware, and more.

Megan James, the Huddersfield shop manager, said: “We’re really excited about having a presence in Huddersfield town centre at a time when there is so much going on. With the regeneration project and new developments like The Light and the food hall and library, there’s a real buzz about town and we’re thrilled to be part of that.

“Our shops play a hugely crucial role in helping us generate the income we need to do our vital work – it will cost us £6.5million to provide support for local children and families this year, 80% of which we have to raise ourselves, through our shops, fundraising and events.

Whether you’re donating your unwanted stuff or you’re shopping for a bargain, or volunteering your time to help in the shop, you’ll be part of the amazing community that helps us support babies and children with life shortening conditions and their families.”

The shop will open Monday to Saturday 9am-4.30pm and Sundays 10am-4pm. We welcome donations of unwanted but good quality items, such as men’s and ladies’ clothing, toys, accessories, homeware, books and DVDs which can be dropped off at the Huddersfield shop. We’ll also collect larger furniture items like sofas, wardrobes and tables for free – you can arrange a collection here.

Whether you’re donating your unwanted stuff or you’re shopping for a bargain, or volunteering your time to help in the shop, you’ll be part of the amazing community that helps us support babies and children with life shortening conditions and their families.
