We’re recruiting for two staff nurses
Caring for a child with a life-shortening condition can be a real rollercoaster ride for families. There will be periods when their child is very poorly, needing intensive medical treatment and other times when they’re as well as they can be, times families are desperate to make the most of. And in-between, there are the daily stresses and strains of looking after a child with a complex and chronic health condition.
At Forget Me Not, we’re there for the family throughout. We’re there to provide clinical care when the child needs it, but we’re also there on family days out. We’re there to provide respite care to give exhausted parents a break. And we’re there when they just need someone to talk to.
As a staff nurse, you’ll be joining a nurse-led team that puts the family at the heart of everything we do, providing holistic, high quality care to mums and dads, brothers and sisters, and grandparents, as well as the child. You’ll be part of a multi-disciplinary, fully integrated team working hard to make care as seamless as possible. So you’ll support families both in their own homes and in our soon-to-open hospice, Grace’s Place.
And that makes it an exciting time to join us. Because we’re just starting out on our journey. We started providing care to a small number of local families in their own homes in December 2017. The hospice itself will open its doors later this year. So a key part of your role will be to help us build our service, build our team and build our reputation within the local community. And you’ll be building on firm foundations – our hospice in Huddersfield has been providing an ‘outstanding’ level of care since 2013 (as rated by the CQC) and currently cares for over 400 children and families.
If you’re passionate about delivering an exceptional level of care, not just to the child but to their whole family; if you’re excited about joining a close-knit team – not just nursing staff, but therapists, counsellors plus fundraisers and housekeeping – all dedicated to making Grace’s Place the bright, colourful and welcoming place that families need and deserve; if you’re committed to helping families get the support they so desperately need at the most difficult times of their lives – then we want to hear from you!
