We’re turning up the heat for our first-ever Firewalk!
As part of our 10th anniversary celebrations, we’re holding our first-ever Firewalk and asking ‘would you walk over hot coals for local children and families?’
To be held at Russell House on Saturday 5th June, the firewalk will see participants walking barefoot over burning hot coals to raise money to help us support children with life-shortening conditions and their families.
The event will be led by experienced firewalking specialists, UKFireWalk, and safely socially-distanced. But if that’s too hot for you, try our LegoWalk instead, on the same day! Aimed at the under-12s and those who don’t fancy the firewalk, this will involve walking across thousands of loose LEGO bricks – ouch!
Not only is it a thrilling challenge and a great spectacle, it’s also the first event we’ve been able to hold for over a year because of the pandemic – so we’re really looking forward to welcoming people to the hospice.
In fact, as a result of the pandemic, we’ve lost some 46% of our fundraising income. And yet the families we support have never needed us more. So would you walk over hot coals for children and families? Because by taking on this sizzling-hot trial of mind-over-matter, you’ll help us continue to be here providing vital clinical and respite care, activities, counselling and bereavement support to families facing or living with the loss of their child.
Redrow, who are sponsoring the event, said: “We hope the event will be a huge success, especially after the difficult year everyone has had. The event comes at a perfect time to raise money for such a great cause – and hopefully see some of our staff members give the Firewalk (and LegoWalk) a go.”
