We’re delighted to announce that we have received a Kirklees Volunteering Quality Award from Third Sector Leaders (TSL) Kirklees in recognition of the high quality volunteering experience we offer to volunteers.

Last week, Becky Bracey from TSL Kirklees came to Russell House to present us with the award. She said: “Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice were able to clearly demonstrate how they support their volunteers and offer a high quality volunteering experience. The volunteers we interviewed spoke highly of the organisation and felt well supported and appreciated by the charity. We were also delighted to hear about examples of volunteers progressing to paid employment due to their volunteering experience. The organisation is committed to and understands the important role that volunteers play in supporting the vital work of the hospice for families in West Yorkshire.”

The award follows a rigorous assessment by the Kirklees Volunteering Quality award panel, which included reviewing volunteer procedures, speaking to staff and most importantly, gaining feedback from volunteers.

We are supported by over 500 volunteers who undertake a wide variety of roles – in our shops, out in the community fundraising for us and at the hospice – enabling us to be here for local children and families who are facing or living with the loss of a child.

Gareth Pierce, our CEO, said: “We’re extremely proud to have received this award. Without our volunteers, we simply couldn’t be here for the local children and families who need us. That’s why we’re committed to making sure they have the best possible experience when they generously give their time, passion and commitment to support our work. It’s fantastic to see the dedication of our team and the impact of our volunteering programme recognised in this way.”
