Funding vital care for families when a child dies.
Make twice the difference this December
When a child dies, a family’s world changes forever.
At Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice, we make sure families facing the unimaginable don’t have to go through it alone. Through our Snowflake Appeal, we’re aiming to raise £320,000 to fund vital bereavement care and support for local families when a child dies.
And thanks to our generous match funders, every donation made during the campaign will be doubled, helping twice as many families receive the support they need.
£10 becomes £20. £50 becomes £100. Every gift makes double the difference.
Why we need your help
“To have time with your baby that you’re never going to have again, in such an amazing, peaceful, supportive environment with the kindest staff, it means everything.”
For Nicola, James and their family, time meant everything.
Their daughter, Poppy, died shortly after birth. In the days that followed, they were able to spend precious time together in our Snowflake Suite at Russell House.
“Before, I couldn’t wrap my head around the idea of spending time with your baby after they’d died. But it was the most peaceful, most comfortable time.
The relief that I felt knowing where Poppy was, that she was being cared for at the hospice. And the dignity that they showed Poppy, and us, was just incredible. They treated her like they would any other child.
I can’t emphasise enough the impact Forget Me Not had on our lives during that time. We were two parents who had no idea what to do. We needed to arrange a funeral, we were trying to look after the boys who were devastated about their sister’s death, and we were dealing with our own grief.
Forget Me Not scooped us up and guided us through everything.”
By providing wraparound support in our Snowflake Suite or in families’ own homes, as well as help with funeral planning, grief counselling and ongoing bereavement support, we help families like Nicola’s feel less isolated and better able to cope, not just through the immediate devastation of a child dying, but throughout the rest of their lives.
But we receive no NHS or government funding to run this vital service.
That’s why we’re launching our ambitious Snowflake Appeal to raise £320,000 – enough to help up to 200 local families at the toughest time of their lives.
